The judges for the 2007/08 Macmillan Writer's Prize for Africa are:

Meshack Asare
Winner of the Noma Award for Children’s Literature and the UNESCO Prize for Children’s and Young People’s Literature in the Service of Tolerance for Sosu’s Call. This also earned him a place in the top twelve of the recent Africa’s 100 Best Books of the 20th Century.

Jamila Gavin
Author of award-winning Coram Boy and other much-loved children's books, and frequent visitor to Africa as author and writing workshop presenter.

Jack Mapanje
One of Africa's most famous poets and a distinguished scholar, currently teaching creative writing at the University of Newcastle.

Helen Oyeyemi
Author of widely acclaimed first novel The Icarus Girl, completed at the age of 17, and The Opposite House, to be published in 2007.
